A comprehensive and synergistic combination of essential vitamins, minerals, and standardized botanical extracts. Vegetarian capsules. Gluten Free.

The thyroid gland is a butterfly-shaped gland that lies across the trachea at the base of the throat. One of the largest endocrine (hormone-secreting) glands in the body, the thyroid produces and secretes thyroid hormones — mostly T4 (inactive) and small amounts of T3 (active). When needed, T4 is typically converted in the liver, kidneys, and other tissues to active T3. The primary action of thyroid hormone is to raise the body’s metabolic rate — increasing the rate of oxygen consumption and energy expenditure. Thyroid hormones are also essential for normal growth and development, and interact with other hormones to modulate carbohydrate, fat, and protein metabolism. Thyroid Support is a synergistic combination of nutrients and herbs designed to help support thyroid hormone production, activation, and function.†

Features

  • Comprehensive support for normal, healthy thyroid function†
  • Essential vitamins and minerals to support thyroid hormone production and activation†
  • Standardized botanical extracts to support healthy thyroid function, metabolism, and stress response†
  • Vegetarian capsules, gluten free

Benefits

  • Thyroid hormone production:
    • L-Tyrosine is an essential component of thyroid hormones and supports production of hormones that affect mood, energy, and stress response.†
    • Kelp provides a natural source of iodine, an essential component of thyroid hormones.†
    • Vitamins B6 and C are cofactors required for the body’s natural production and metabolism of tyrosine.†
    • Copper is an essential cofactor for the enzyme responsible for producing thyroid hormones.†
  • Thyroid hormone receptor structure and function:
    • Vitamins A and D are important for thyroid hormone receptor function — T3 must effectively bind to specific cellular receptors to support energy production and nutrient metabolism.†
    • Zinc plays an important role in the structure of thyroid hormone receptors, allowing for efficient binding and function of thyroid hormones.†
  • Thyroid hormone activation:
    • Selenium is an essential cofactor for the deiodinase enzymes responsible for converting inactive T4 into active T3, taking place primarily in the liver and kidneys.†
  • Metabolic and additional support:
    • Folic acid and B6 help support homocysteine metabolism; elevated homocysteine levels have been shown to affect normal, healthy thyroid function.†
    • Thyroid hormone is intimately associated with energy production and mitochondrial function, both of which require adequate magnesium.†
    • EGCG, a catechin compound in green tea, has been shown to support the body’s calorie-burning capacity.†
    • Guggulsterones — active compounds in guggulipid — help support iodine uptake by the thyroid gland, essential for thyroid hormone production.†
    • Bacopa monniera has been shown to support thyroid hormone production as well as cognitive function typically affected by sub-optimal thyroid activity.†
    • Ashwagandha contains withanolides shown to promote healthy thyroid and adrenal gland function, and acts as an effective adaptogen helping the body respond to stress — a critical factor in normal thyroid health.†

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Thyroid Support for hypothyroidism or hyperthyroidism?
Thyroid Support is formulated to support normal, healthy thyroid hormone production, activation, and metabolism in adults whose thyroid function may benefit from nutritional support.† It is not intended to treat any thyroid condition. If you have been diagnosed with hypothyroidism, hyperthyroidism, or Hashimoto’s thyroiditis, consult your healthcare professional before use.

Can I take this with my prescription thyroid medication?
This formula contains iodine (300 mcg from kelp) and several botanicals that may interact with thyroid hormone levels or medication absorption. If you are taking prescription thyroid medication, always consult your prescribing physician before adding any thyroid supplement. Timing of supplements relative to thyroid medication can also affect absorption.

Does Thyroid Support contain iodine? Is that safe if I have Hashimoto’s?
Yes, each serving provides 300 mcg of iodine from kelp (200% DV). Iodine is an essential component of thyroid hormones, but individuals with Hashimoto’s thyroiditis are sometimes advised to moderate iodine intake. Please consult your healthcare provider to determine whether this level of iodine is appropriate for your specific situation.

What does selenium do for the thyroid?
Selenium is an essential cofactor for the deiodinase enzymes that convert inactive T4 (thyroxine) into the active T3 (triiodothyronine) hormone. Without adequate selenium, this conversion is impaired, which can affect energy levels, metabolism, and overall thyroid function.† Each serving of Thyroid Support provides 100 mcg of selenium as selenomethionine (182% DV).

What does ashwagandha do for thyroid health?
Ashwagandha (Withania somnifera) contains active compounds called withanolides that have been shown in studies to support healthy thyroid hormone production and adrenal gland function.† It also acts as an adaptogen — helping the body manage stress, which is a critical factor in maintaining normal thyroid function. Each serving provides 100 mg standardized to 1.5% withanolides.

Is this product vegetarian and gluten free?
Yes. Thyroid Support uses vegetarian capsules (cellulose and water) and contains no wheat or gluten. Note that it does contain soy — please review the full ingredient list if you have a soy sensitivity.
