Antioxidants are natural substances that support a healthy immune system and stop free radicals from doing damage to the DNA in the cells of our body and compromising our immune system. The cell damage from free radicals are often implicated in many diseases such as arthritis, cancer and others. Free radicals come from many sources around us such as environmental pollutants in the air, water and food. But just as important they are produced in our own bodies just by normal metabolism.
When an antioxidant binds to a free radical the free radical is no longer “free” to bind to bind with and damage crucial parts of your cells.
